‘The Confederacy was on the wrong side of humanity’ – Here’s why the Mayor of New Orleans is taking down Confederate monuments
Don't destroy them. This will all change one day. Then people will realize that these monuments represent a part of our history. Then people with their heads on straight will want them back where we can see them. (and, yes, I'm from the north.)

I can see his point but at the same time why can't we erect something in front of the statues stating what transpired during these times and how we've now grown and learned from it. Bottom line its history we are not glorifying these men. Idk just my opinion.

I think that this is being carried a little too far. This is a part of history. Are we going to start taking down the Lincoln Memorial too?

You just don't get it. Yes the civil war was part of our history, a shameful part of history that will always be with us. But, we don't need to glorify the men who fought to keep a repugnant institution of slavery. The south lost, get over it! We don't have statues to king George or Hitler. They lost too!
