Fox News anchor Shep Smith’s recent remarks about the network’s opinion hosts really touched a nerve on Friday morning when Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham took to Twitter to whine.
During an interview with Time this week, Smith discussed the different rules that opinion hosts have at the conservative network versus the rules to news anchors have to follow.
Basically, hosts like Hannity and Ingraham have no rules and Smith can’t stand them.
“We serve different masters,” Smith said. “We work for different reporting chains, we have different rules. They don’t really have rules on the opinion side. They can say whatever they want. If it’s their opinion. I don’t really watch a lot of opinion programming. I’m busy.”
“I get it that some of our opinion programming is there strictly to be entertaining,” he continued. “I get that. I don’t work there. I wouldn’t work there. I don’t want to sit around and yell at each other and talk about your philosophy and my philosophy. That sounds horrible to me.”
Of course, Hannity and Ingraham took Smith’s remarks personally and lashed out.
Hannity struck first by calling Smith “clueless” and referring to himself as “real news.”
While Shep is a friend with political views I do not share, and great at breaking news, he is clueless about what we do every day. Hannity breaks news daily-Warrant on a Trump assoc, the unmasking scandal, leaking intel, Fisa abuse, HRC lawbreaking, dossier and more REAL NEWS! 9p https://t.co/zJpnnyFTtP

And that’s hilarious considering Smith once tore apart the Uranium One conspiracy that Hannity and other Fox opinion hosts had been pushing for months to attack former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Here’s that epic debunking via YouTube.
Also, Hannity continued to push the Seth Rich conspiracy even after Fox News retracted the story, a story that Fox is now facing a lawsuit over.
And then there’s Politifact’s Hannity profile, which reveals that Hannity lies more than 50 percent of the time.
Oh, and we can’t forget about this tweet in which Hannity makes it clear that he’s no journalist.

Just about an hour later, Ingraham chimed in with her own attack on Smith.
Always liked Shep, but his comments were inconsiderate & inaccurate. The hard working team at the Ingraham Angle does real reporting, develops impt sources and scores big interviews. Very proud of them. https://t.co/3aR1EHAK3Z

So, how come Politifact’s Ingraham profile shows that she lies even more often than Hannity?
Ingraham’s lies include the whopper that Planned Parenthood makes most of its money from abortion, even though abortion represents only three percent of the services the women’s health organization offers. Either Planned Parenthood charges a fortune to perform abortions or Ingraham is a liar.
Ingraham also spreads propaganda for President Donald Trump and she was close to being his choice for White House Press Secretary.
Hannity also spreads propaganda for Trump and was close to him during the campaign.
Shep Smith was right about Fox News’ opinion hosts. They aren’t journalists. They don’t report the news. They don’t report the facts. They twist the news to fit the worldview of their extreme conservative audience, and that means all facts must be replaced with pure opinion and lies. Hannity and Ingraham are throwing a temper tantrum because the truth hurts, and Smith just dropped a truth-bomb on them.
