Even though we’ve long known that Fox host Laura Ingraham is an incredibly cruel, racist person who thinks almost no immigrants should be allowed into the United States, the comments she made Wednesday on her show may well be the most insensitive she’s ever made.

Ingraham began her rant by referencing remarks recently made by Congressional candidate Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez  (D-NY), who said on Pod Save America:

“The average age of a House Democrat right now is 65 years old… I don’t think that they exactly see how rising income inequality has resulted in a very stark political reality.”

In response, Ingraham had this to say:

“As if she knows all of America from her loft in Queens.”

And that was all the Fox host needed in order to declare that America as it used to be is gone, and progressives are to blame:

“Because in some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore. Massive demographic changes have been foisted on the American people and they’re changes that none of us ever voted for and most of us don’t like. From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically in some ways the country has changed. Now, much of this is related to both illegal and in some cases legal immigration that of course progressives love.”

The America we know and love? Isn’t that just code for saying people of color are starting to outnumber whites in the United States? And isn’t that what terrifies Ingraham and her fellow conservatives most of all? They fear losing their control of everything and their ability to exercise their white privilege when it suits them.

Ingraham’s comments were not well received on Twitter:

No wonder Ingraham is so fond of Donald Trump. He’s exactly the xenophobe she’s been longing for all these years.
