Is it really so hard for these perverts to issue a sincere apology?
Because in what has to be the most bizarre apology to their fans and those they hurt, celebrity chef Mario Batali tacked on a recipe for cinnamon rolls as if that’s going to make everyone feel better.
In a newsletter, Batali said:
“As many of you know, this week there has been some news coverage about some of my past behavior. I have made many mistakes and I am so very sorry that I have disappointed my friends, my family, my fans and my team. My behavior was wrong and there are no excuses. I take full responsibility.”
He then talked about how sharing his love of Italian food has been an “honor and privilege” and promised to “work every day to regain your trust and respect.”
And then he ruined it by including a cinnamon roll recipe.
“p.s. in case you’re searching for a holiday-inspired breakfast, these Pizza Dough Cinnamon Rolls are a fan favorite.”
Eight women came forward with sexual misconduct allegations against Batali in the last week and he apologizes with cinnamon rolls. It’s like this guy can’t do anything without mentioning or trying to promote food in some way.
It didn’t take long for Twitter users to rip him a new one.

MARIO BATALI: How do we address the sexual harassment?
PR TEAM: With a heartfelt apology.
MB: A cinnamon roll recipe should do the trick.
PR: That’s a horrible idea.
MB: Yeah, let’s go with that.
PR: You need to apologize.
MB: OK. Quick apology and then rolls.
PR: We’re doomed. pic.twitter.com/dy7aIHUyDV

Mario Batali including a damn recipe in a P.S. to a freaking apology for sexual harassment/assault is emblematic of Men Like That not ever getting it.

Mario Batali owes his victims a real apology. Offering everyone a cinnamon roll recipe will not result in forgiveness or redemption. It will, however, associate cinnamon rolls with sexual harassment, and that should also be a crime.
