Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore is back with a new and appropriately horrifying look at America in 2018 under the Trump administration: Fahrenheit 11/9, a play on the title of 2004’s Fahrenheit 9/11, the highest-grossing documentary ever.
Fahrenheit 9/11 was about the Bush administration’s motives for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This time it’s about the day Trump took office, ongoing gun violence in America, ongoing drinking water contamination in Moore’s hometown of Flint, Michigan, and the rise of neo-nazis in broad daylight.
“How the F*** did this happen,” says a disgusted Moore as the scene opens.

Moore’s newly released trailer refers to Trump as “The last president of the United States.”
That comes as particularly hair-raising, considering that Moore was one of the few who had predicted Trump would be President in his “5 Reasons Why Trump Will Win.”
“This wretched, ignorant, dangerous part-time clown and full-time sociopath is going to be our next president. President Trump,” Moore stated.
However, considering that Moore is releasing the movie before the mid-terms in the hopes of encouraging voter turnout in the millions, we should take this prediction as a call to action, not a call to give up hope.
Even so, the trailer for the film features Trump’s creepy voice saying:
“The American Dream is… dead. Stop resisting.”
As a contrast to the Trump horrors, we see signs of hope:
Featured are images of Moore talking to David Hogg, one of the prominent gun legislation activist students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
It also features flashes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who could become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, at 28.
While many of the scenes depict an America in chaos under Trump, the message would seem to be: The time to turn this around is now, or America will continue to descend beyond anything recognizable.
Moore has indicated that the American people are up to the challenge.
“We’re going to bring Trump down,” the filmmaker told Bill Maher.
The movie hits theaters on September 21.
