It’s a photo that has gone viral around the world, and it’s likely that President Donald Trump is going to lash out at the Netherlands when he sees it.
Heading into the third day of competition at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games on Sunday, the United States currently stands in 5th place in the medal count with four total medals.
Ahead of the American team is Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and Norway.
As you may recall, Trump reportedly demanded that the United States lure more immigrants from Norway during a temper tantrum in which he referred to Haiti and several African nations as “sh*thole countries.”
Norwegians were quick to troll Trump over his remarks. And both Germany and Canada have been critical of Trump as well.
But it was the Dutch fans of the Netherlands on Saturday who hilariously took a shot directly at Trump and his “America First” policy during the Games.
After speed skaters Carlijn Achtereekte, Ireen Wust, and Antoinette De Jong took gold, silver, and bronze for the Netherlands in the women’s 3,000-meter race, their fans had a little fun celebrating at Trump’s expense by holding up a flag informing the president that the Netherlands is first, second, and third.
“Sorry Mr. President,” the fans wrote on their flag. “The Netherlands First… And 2nd… And 3rd.”
The image was first tweeted out by Dutch fan Jeantin Boltjes.

And, yes, the tweet drew immediate outrage from Trump supporters.
you take 1 event and tally up the golds as of what the first day? lets see where the US ends up with total metals. But we’re #1 in world sorry netherlands.

I thought just American liberals were nuts. Now I know that international liberals/socialists are just as crazy.

Should keep politics out of the Olympics. I would also be concerned about those Dutch nationals defacing their flag.

Many Americans, however, supported the Netherlands.
From a Proud American (of my country) not the President. Congratulations to the Netherlands I loved your flag and the quote. Boltjes later tweeted his concern that he accidentally started a fight between Democrats and Republicans.
OMG, I tweeted this 4fun, but ended up, being a twitterwar between Dems and Reps! I learned that the real threat isnt Muslims, its a 2nd civil war in the US!

Still, as Trump continues to alienate nations around the world with his hyper-nationalism and bloated sense of self-importance, it was refreshing to be reminded that many countries hate him as much as most Americans do. If anything, Trump is the reason why most nations are even more motivated to beat us at the Olympics than usual.
