During his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, President Donald Trump was laughed at when he began bragging about how his administration has accomplished more than any other in American history.
Oh, but they weren’t laughing at Trump, according to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley.
Haley was a guest on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday morning, and she said world leaders “loved” Trump’s honesty and have nothing but “respect” for him.”
“They loved how honest he is. It’s not diplomatic and they find it funny. … When he goes and he is very truthful, they kind of were taken back by it.
“All day yesterday, they were falling over themselves to get a picture with him, to talk about how great his speech was. They love that he’s honest with them and they’ve never seen anything like it, so there’s respect there. I saw that the media was trying to make it something disrespectful. That’s not what it was ― they love to be with him.”
But if you watch Trump’s reaction in the video, he doesn’t seem to be basking in respect or love. He even comments that he didn’t expect to be laughed at.
The United States under Donald Trump is an international joke. We are the laughingstock of the world. And when people laugh at you to your face, that even suggests that they don’t care if you know how they feel.
Back in 2014, when Barack Obama was still president and spoke to the United Nations, Trump fired off this tweet:
We need a President who isn’t a laughing stock to the entire World. We need a truly great leader, a genius at strategy and winning. Respect!

For the record, there are some who believe that there are only two reactions any sane person should have to a speech by Donald Trump: Laughter and lots of cringing.
