How terrified is incumbent Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) that he might be on the verge of losing to his charismatic Democratic opponent, Rep. Beto O’Rourke? So much so that he tweeted out a blatant lie suggesting that campaign funds O’Rourke raised have been used to help finance the caravan of migrants heading toward Mexico from Central America:
Two basic Qs every reporter should ask Beto today: (1) should the “caravan” be allowed to cross illegally into Texas? (Beto refuses to answer.) And (2) did your campaign dollars illegally fund their doing so? https://t.co/5HcePn3AGs

O’Rourke quickly fired back at Cruz’s specious claims, sharing a video of him calling for an end to the anti-immigrant rhetoric being used by Republicans in the closing days of the midterm campaign:
The people of Texas are not a small, paranoid people. We are big, bold, ambitious, and focused on the future. pic.twitter.com/ROX8KNBc4d

Cruz also got major pushback from social media users who, like O’Rourke, are ready to send the incumbent packing next Tuesday:

@USSenate I am your constituent. You need to take down this Tweet and apologize. You are not only embarrassing yourself, but you are embarrassing Texas. Did you learn nothing from last week about the dangers of spreading unfounded conspiracy theories? Shame on you Ted. Shame.

Thanks for reminding me to donate to Beto today

Ted! You’re sure getting worked up about a group of people traveling on foot who are still 900 miles away and who according to the military will fracture into smaller groups. It will be weeks before they reach the border and with any luck you’ll be gone by then.

Call me crazy for asking…. but does there happen to be any proof that Beto funded the caravan?
Or is this just an ‘Obama is not a citizen’ or ‘Ted Cruz’s dad conspired to kill Kennedy’ thing?

Sure looks like Ted’s internal polls must be showing him tied or behind to O’Rourke. Cruz’s next move will probably be to tweet out an endorsement from God Almighty and claim Jesus friended him on Facebook.
