President Donald Trump once again whined about the FBI investigation into Supreme Court nominee and accused attempted rapist Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday, and even complained about Democrats obstructing the confirmation.
Last week, Trump caved to pressure from Senate Democrats and three Senate Republicans and authorized the investigation, but rather than let the FBI conduct a thorough investigation, he severely restricted it so that the report sided with Kavanaugh in all likelihood.
The day after the FBI handed over their incomplete report, Trump took to Twitter to complain.
This is now the 7th. time the FBI has investigated Judge Kavanaugh. If we made it 100, it would still not be good enough for the Obstructionist Democrats.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 4, 2018
It may be the seventh investigation, but it’s still an investigation that was hindered by Trump from the beginning because he limited its scope, preventing the FBI from interviewing dozens of witnesses and following other leads like scrutinizing Kavanaugh’s lies during his confirmation hearing.
And it should be pointed out that Trump is conveniently ignoring the fact that Republicans refused to give Merrick Garland a hearing when he was nominated to the high court in 2016, the ultimate example of obstructionism. That makes Trump and Republicans hypocrites.
Twitter users crushed Trump for it.
Why didn’t you let the FBI interview Kavanaugh, Ford, or other key witnesses?

It’s the 7th time that the FBI has NOT investigated all allegations of sexual assault. This is a sham of an investigation, run by Republicans, not seeking the truth!
— Ed Krassenstein (@EdKrassen) October 4, 2018
You talk about unfair treatment towards Brett, but yet you have the audacity to mock a human being that has been sexually assaulted? You are ALL twisted. You need a self reality check.

I am a former prosecutor. I’ve never seen a law enforcement investigation where agents don’t interview the accuser or request to interview the accused. The #FBIReport is incomplete and designed to reach a preordained result.
America deserves better. https://t.co/iV7GqO8RB2

If this is how the the 6 previous investigations were conducted – no wonder we needed to request a 7th.
A limited scope investigation, dictated by a biased party – is not an investigation.

Obstructionists, you say?
Remember Merrick Garland?
— Heidtman (@heidtman) October 4, 2018
Remeber when the obstructionist Republicans blocked Merrick Garland and left only 8 justices on the SCOTUS for a year?

What will never “be good enough for” us is his blatant sense of entitlement.#KavaNO was dishonest, defiant, condesending and dismissive in his testimony. He doesn’t resemble a judge in any manner, much less a Supreme Court judge.

How to do an investigation without really trying:
1.) Set artificial deadline
2.) Dictate which witnesses can be interviewed
3.) Decline to follow new leads
4.) Purposefully exclude main witnesses
5.) Declare vindication
White House made sure the fix was in from the beginning.

I’m proud of Democratic Senators who have tried to obstruct this process because it’s been a sham from the start. The only reason for “ploughing through” is to benefit you and your cronies. #StopKavanaugh

This confirmation process and FBI investigation is a total sham that disqualifies Kavanaugh from ever serving on the Supreme Court. Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) should vote against Kavanaugh if they actually care about getting to the truth. They called for this investigation, but Trump rigged it, making it illegitimate. They should be demanding a full investigation free from interference from Trump. Anything less is unacceptable.
