President Donald Trump lashed out at former CIA Director John Brennan on Saturday morning for criticizing him on MSNBC on Friday night during an interview with Rachel Maddow.
Earlier this week, Trump revoked Brennan’s security clearance to retaliate against Brennan for criticizing him.
Trump hoped that punishing Brennan for criticizing him would intimidate him into silence, but the longtime intelligence official refuses to surrender his freedom of speech, which is why he appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show and analyzed Trump’s decision to strip his security clearance.
“The fact that he’s using the security clearance of a former CIA director as a pawn in his public relations strategy, I think, is just so reflective of somebody who, quite frankly — I don’t want to use this term maybe — but he’s drunk on power,” Brennan said.
“I think he’s abusing the powers of that office,” he continued. “I think right now this country is in a crisis in terms of what Mr. Trump has done and is liable to do. Are the Republicans on the Hill who have given him a pass, are they going to wait for a disaster to happen before they actually find their backbones and spines to speak up against somebody who clearly, clearly is not carrying out his responsibilities with any sense of purpose and common sense from a standpoint of national security?”
Brennan also warned that Trump could start another war in a desperate effort to distract the country from his scandals.

Trump apparently heard about or watched the interview, because he took to Twitter the next morning and threw a tantrum.
Has anyone looked at the mistakes that John Brennan made while serving as CIA Director? He will go down as easily the WORST in history & since getting out, he has become nothing less than a loudmouth, partisan, political hack who cannot be trusted with the secrets to our country!

Trump did not offer any examples of the so-called “mistakes” Brennan supposedly made as CIA director, nor did he offer any proof that he is the “worst” CIA director in history. Plus, Trump accused him of spilling national security secrets. Basically, Trump just accused Brennan of a crime and offered zero evidence to back up his claim.
As usual, Trump is opening his mouth and sticking his foot in it.
There is no evidence that Brennan committed a crime. In fact, Trump’s stated reasons for revoking his security clearance is because of Brennan’s criticism of him and the fact that he is a witness in the Russia investigation.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller should look into whether Trump is obstructing justice by trying to intimidate a witness into silence. Because unlike exercising free speech, obstruction is a crime.
