President Donald Trump spent his Tuesday morning throwing a hissy fit about the Russia investigation on Twitter while binge-watching Fox News.

On Monday, FBI agent and frequent Trump target Peter Strzok was fired by FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich despite the recommendation that Strzok merely be demoted and suspended for 60 days.

Of course, Trump and his supporters immediately used the firing to attack the Russia investigation headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

First up on Fox News was right-wing Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton, whom Trump quoted to begin his temper tantrum.

Once again, Fitton and Trump repeat falsehoods in an effort to undermine the investigation. Mueller removed Strzok from the investigation early on because of the text messages and Strzok himself testified to Congress that his texts represented his personal thoughts and did not affect his professionalism on the investigation.

That’s absolutely true, because if Strzok had wanted to wreck Trump’s campaign in 2016 he would have revealed the probe to the public. Instead, he did his job and the investigation would remain quiet while the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails publicly played out.

If anyone got screwed by the FBI, it was Clinton.

Trump then quoted Lou Dobbs, who demanded the Democrats be investigated.

Trump himself admitted on Twitter earlier this month that his campaign colluded with Russia during a meeting at Trump Tower in June 2016.

Also, Lou Dobbs is not privy to any of the evidence Mueller may or may not have against Trump.

Trump then continued by quoting Fox guest Gregg Jarrett, who accused the FBI and Justice Department of trying to “frame” Trump.

This is a simply absurd claim coming from a Trump supporter who is desperately angling for a White House job of some kind. The Inspector General’s report in June makes it clear that the FBI hurt Clinton, not Trump.

Also, Mueller has secured five guilty pleas and about two dozen indictments so far and is currently investigating Trump for obstruction of justice. It should also be pointed out that Trump is currently refusing to talk to Mueller, which is the opposite of what an innocent person would do.

Trump then concluded his childish tantrum using his own words or whoever sometimes writes his tweets for him.

Trump’s obsession with Hillary just never ends. Again, the FBI was investigating possible Russian infiltration of Trump’s campaign and got legitimate FISA warrants to continue the investigation. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller to head the probe after Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey. If Trump wants to blame someone for Mueller being brought in, he should look in a mirror. His action of firing Comey for not dropping the investigation that had ensnared Michael Flynn is what directly led to Mueller being appointed.

This tweetstorm is an all-out assault on the rule of law, the judicial system, and the facts. It’s time for Congress to defend all three by passing legislation to protect Mueller and begin impeachment proceedings against Trump. Fox News should also be investigated for trying to discredit the investigation and for acting as a propaganda machine for the Trump administration.

This desperate effort to undermine a federal investigation is not only unpresidential, it’s un-American.
