President Donald Trump launched yet another vicious and petty attack on the free press Thursday morning by accusing The Boston Globe of “collusion” and hypocritically demanded “honesty” from the media while claiming to support the First Amendment.

Earlier this week, The Boston Globe reached out to newspapers across the nation to organize editorials condemning Trump for calling the press the “enemy of the people.”

Those editorials ran today, and Trump noticed, which is why he lashed out.

Of course, it’s true that Trump has repeatedly attacked the press as the “enemy of the people” and “dangerous” to the nation. And that’s exactly why newspapers across the country published the editorials.

Trump then claimed that he supports freedom of the press before demanding “honesty,” which is his way of whining about the press not spreading his lies and propaganda as the truth:

Twitter users soon fired back at Trump’s hypocrisy.

The fact is that Trump doesn’t support the free press. He only wants a press that props him up and that is the opposite of freedom. That’s authoritarianism.
